Error while connecting to PWA using MS Project Professional 2016 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Environment: Project Server 2016 and MS Project Professional 2016

The site http://<ip address>/sites/pwa has been added in the trusted sites and can be accessed via the internet. The project client was able to access the site before but now it won't connect. We had the same issue couple of days before but it was resolved after I updated the MS Project 2016. However it popped up again but this time it won't go.

We are continuously receiving the following error:

Project was unable to establish a connection with http://<ip address>/sites/pwa. This could be caused by a loss of network connectivity or inadequate permissions to connect to Project Web App.

  • Hi,

We are using IP address everywhere and it works just fine. We have taken you advice of using the MS Project Professional from the client environment. This is the server hosted on AWS (Amazon Web Server).

We contact Microsoft support and after cleaning the IE (Internet Explorer) cache the issue was resolved.

    Thank you Paul.

  • For all these days it went away but now it is back. We are not able to catch the root problem. The product is patched and credentials cleared but the issue persists.

  • Hello,

Are you using the IP address instead of the hostname / DNS name of the server? If so, please use the server host name / DNS name and try again.
