DPM 2007 to DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We currently have DPM 2007 with Exchange 2007.  We have plans to go to DPM 2012 with Exchange 2013 within the next five months or so.  Would this be an upgrade in place or will we be required to remove DPM 2007 from our servers and then install DPM 2012?

  • 2007 directly to 2012 is not supported. 2007SP1 to 2010 QFE7 to 2012 RU3 to 2012SP1 is a possibility.

A quick question though, what operating system are you running DPM on?

I believe if you are on a x64 2008 or 2008 R2 system you can get as far as DPM 2012 non SP1.

    System Center 2012 SP1 lists 2008R2 SP1 as a requirement.

There are individual technet articles on upgrading from DPM 2007 SP1 to DPM 2010, and so on all the way up to DPM 2012 SP1.

That is going to be a lot of work though - which you will have to think about verses a new clean install. How badly do you need to keep the historic data in the SQL DB? Otherwise, check out the following technet articles for a beginning reference.
