PreferExternalManifest breaks in 1607

    Question

  • So we had an issue with a terminal server app that was resolved by adding a PreferExternalManifest

This appears to have broke with the 1607 patch. We followed this guide https://blog.brankovucinec.com/2016/03/19/fix-remote-desktop-dpi-scaling-issues/ As you can see someone in the comments there is also saying it broke.

I know for a fact that the registry key got flipped but don't have a computer in front of me to test this. Can anyone provide some insight?

  • Hi  JustusIV,

According to my research, modifying that registry key is usually to change the behavior of "High DPI awareness" for Windows. According to the present symptom, it seems that the latest version has removed that registry key to change the Windows`s behavior.
In my opinion, we should troubleshoot whether the specific app is compatible with Windows 10 instead of hacking the system to use the specific app.

    Best regards
