Database upgrade status... RRS feed

  • Question

  • when running stsadm.exe -o localupgradestatus on a Sharepoint 2013 enterprise server with march 2013 patch.
The server has never been patched with windows update.
I get that some databases cannot be upgraded.
the display I get is the following:
around 6 databases "cannot be upgraded"
    Around 2 databases "needs upgrade"

    when I open http://centraladmin:portnr/_admin/DatabaseStatus.aspx
    I get:
"Database is up to date, but some sites are not completely upgraded" for only 2 databases
what can that mean? All site collections are in 15 hive.

WARNING: Database SPContentDatabase cannot be upgraded.
I plan to run "psconfig -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -wait -force" when I will be allowed to do so.
    When running: stsadm.exe -o localupgradestatus

I get three different messages about the databases:
    1.) ok
    2.) needs upgrade
    3.) cannot be upgraded.
for example the social and profile databases have no action required in the database review but when running the stsadm command, it states that it cannot be upgraded.
do I need to worry about the message "cannot be upgraded" for the databases that have "no action required?

    best regards,

  • Hi  Olafur,

Please check the  database is not set to read-only. You cannot upgrade a database that is set to read-only. Make sure that you set the databases to read-write before you attach and upgrade the databases.
