Full Scan Options - Local Drive Only? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When the scheduled scan runs, it is scanning mapped drives as well as local drives.  Since the mapped drives are very large, this results in teh scan taking quite a long time to compete (several hours).  I know that we can exclude the mapped drive leters and that should do the trick, but it is not very dynamic.

QUESTION: Is there a way to limit the scheduled scans to only local hard disks?

    Thanks - BH

  • Hi Bruce!

Can you do a little investigation for me? By default FCS do NOT scan mapped drives. However i have seen this and the reason beeing that under program -> recent items there where documents that existed on a maped drive so the scanner scaned these documents.

How have you determined that it scans documents on a maped drive?  do you see it in the FCS client UI? does it scan for a long time at the maped drive or does the path just "flash by" quickly?

    /Johan
