My HP Vista machine is stuck in the "F11" Diagnostics mode on startup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently had a virus issue and in the process of trying to fix it, I can now only boot up in the diagnostic mode.  I went into the diagnostic mode on purpose (F11) and ran several of the tools, then hit the "restart" button from there.  Now it only wants to restart in that mode.  It initially shows the "blue boot screen", but if I don't select one of the various "F-key" options, it just starts straight into the diagnostic mode.  Do I have to get to the command prompt and run "winload.exe", or can I hit some other key to get to something like the "...windows unexpected shut down" screen, where you can choose from the regular startup, safemode, etc...  I just want to get back to a regular windows mode again for now, so I can start over again.  (HP Media Center 8330f)

  • Hello,

Since you encountered the problem before booting into the system, please understand that it is not a Windows Vista issue and you'd better contact your computer's manufacturer (HP) to solve the problem.

    Good Luck!
