this project open read-write in another session RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

When I am trying to access a project from my server, it is showing this message but I didn't open any project.

"You have this project open read-write in another session.

To open this project read-write, you must close the project in the other session or check in the project using Project Web App. Do you want to open this project read-only ? "

    Thanks.

  • I see that a lot when users open a project for browser-based editing, then
just close the browser.  That leaves the project in checked out mode.

Force check it in.  As Barbara said, I'd check the queue history to see if
there's anything about that, but it probably doesn't go back far enough.
When looking at the Force Check In screen, it will tell you when it was
last checked out.  That may help determine what happened.

  • Hi,

how do you want to open this project? Have you already had a look at Server Settings - Force Check-in Enterprise Objects. Perhaps an earlier check-in did fail?

  • We are experiencing the same issue with a project file.  We force checked the file in, but now there is still one individual who cannot open the file for editing.  It works for one individual and not the other.

  • Hi Ginger,

try to delete(or at least this project from) the cache of this user's client. Seems that chache of the client has never get the information that project was chacked-in on server.
