Problem reading partition RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I own a 400GB HDD formatted in NTFS using Windows 7 format tool with the default settings. I use it with a USB case.

After the format everything worked fine, but today, Windows told me the partition was corrupted and that I needed to format the drive. This message appeared on every Windows PC I plugged the drive in.

So I plugged it back into my computer, but this time with Ubuntu 11.04 (64-bit) running and I had no problem reading the partition. I could access and open every single file in the drive.

Does anybody know why is Windows showing me the message?

I also tried to use EASEUS partition manager and partition recovery, but both programs recognize the partition with no problems.
