KMS Server 2008 R2 and License for Windows Server 2012

  • Hi all,

My current KMS server on 2008 R2 server is currently activating my server 2008 and windows 7 machines. I wanted to add the key for 2012 and windows 8. I installed the hotfix on my current server and added the KMS key for 2012 standard from my Volume licence agreement.

The key was added successfully but I now see a grace period of 30 days when looking at the key info:

    >cscript %windir%\system32\slmgr.vbs /dlv

  • Have you installed KB2757817? If not, install and check for the difference.

Once KMS server is ready run a command slmgr/ato in windows 2012 server to update automatically.

  • It may be because of your KMS host settings and license agreement which you have at your environment. So check once or else

    please contact MS licensing team.
