"Feature update to" vs. "Upgrade to" vs. "Windows 7 and 8.1 upgrade to" - what's the difference? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am preparing our WSUS to deploy Windows 10 to our clients, but what confused me are those different upgrades:

    • Feature update to Windows 10 (EDU, N, Pro, Ent etc.)
    • Upgrade to Windows 10 (EDU, N, Pro, Ent etc.)
    • Windows 7 and 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10 (EDU, N, Pro, Ent etc.)
    • Some are retail, some are volume, some are "nothing"

    Could anyone please enlighten me?

That would be really great :)

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    • Feature update to Windows 10 (EDU, N, Pro, Ent etc.)

Belong to Upgrades Classification, include upgrade to Windows 10, 1703, 1607, no 1511.

    • Upgrade to Windows 10 (EDU, N, Pro, Ent etc.)

Belong to Upgrades Classification, include upgrade to Windows 10 1511

As far as I know, there is no Windows 7 and 8.1 upgrade to Windows 10 in WSUS now.

    Regards,

    Yan
