Using a service account to access separate email account, getting 'authenticated but not connected' error RRS feed

  • I've had a service account set up with permission to access different email accounts so that I can grab emails from them all via the account.

    I can access the service account with the service account password:

    serviceaccount@server.com servicepassword

    But when I try to access the email account through the service account:

    serviceaccount@server.com\useremail@office365.cp, servoce [asswprd

    That's when I get the vague error. First I get a login success response, but once I do anything else (like select a mailbox) I get the authenticated but not connected, and a BYE response.

    I can't find much about this online.

  • By what method are you trying to gain access?  If it's Exchange Web Services, consider using impersonation.
