  • What is the best way to migrate from old sccm 2012 to sccm current branch

    currently i see that under administration there is source hierarchy that we can migrate to our new SCCM environment

  • Theres different options such as migration, backup and restore to another server, or an in-place upgrade. An in-place upgrade is straight forward. If you're just running ConfigMgr 2012, then you need SP1. See https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sccm/core/servers/deploy/install/upgrade-to-configuration-manager for a full list of supported versions. Backup and restore or migration can be useful if you're moving to different hardware or OS (an upgraded OS)

  • Its not required as there isn't much difference the way the SCCM 2012 and CB works in the back-end other than some added feature and cosmetic changes in the product if i may have rights to say so...

    SCCM 2007 to 2012 has a lot of changes in the replication and etc.. so it is a must to migrate unless there is a real need for h/w migration i wouldn't go for either backup and restore to new box or migration for some political reasons..
