Site Usage Reports SharePoint 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want usage reports showing which of my sites are active and which are now dead. I have usage reporting enabled, but it only appears to show activity for the current site. I have a large number of sites, so I cant go into them all individually and export the stats.

Is there a way of getting a summary of site usage across the whole site collection?

    Thanks

  • I don't believe so. You could potentially write a script to aggregate them, but I am not sure how exactly do that. There are third party services like ShareGate that would offer this, but will cost money.

  • There is no OOB  can be report generated but there are many ways to collect the usage reports at the site collection level ...

    1. you can enable the Popularity Trends report for a site collection

On the Site Settings page, in the Site Collection Administration section, click Popularity and Search Reports.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/administration/view-usage-reports

    2. you can configure the custom usage event type

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/administration/configure-recommendations-and-usage-event-types

    Hope this helps!
