Internal domain RRS feed

  • Hi

Windows Server 2016 std. Trying to install Essentials. What should be the internal domain, as .local domains are frowned upon by some security certificate providers?

  • Best practice is to use a sub-domain of a public domain you own. For example, if you own company.com you could create ad.company.com as your forest/domain. Or even register a domain that you will never use publically and set that as your domain. From my experience most companies were setup using .local with no relationship to the public name.
