Client not able to detect site when we click on "Find Site". RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a problem with one hierarchy where i am having a CAS & a Primary Site. the problem is that the client is not able to detect the site when we are clicking on "Find site" under Site Tab on SCCM Client. We have SCCM 2012 R2 hierarchy.

We have enable the site discovery on the boundary group but still it's not working the primary site code is also present on the Primary Site client properties. i have checked the ClientLocation.log and the site code & the management point. we are also able to deploy software Packages, software updates the reporting is also working fine but it's not detecting the site when we are clicking on find site.

What can be the reason. Please suggest.

    Thanks,

    Pranay.

  • Hi All,

Adding the CAS & Primary site computer account with full admin rights on SCCM - administrator/Security/Administrative group solved the problem.

but i just wanted to know is it the right thing to do as we are having sites were this configuration was not needed.

    Thanks,

    Pranay.

  • Have you published your ConfigMgr site to Active Directory?

  • Can you please post your locationservices and clientlocation.log?

What kind of boundaries are you using in your site assignment boundary group?

  • Only time I have run into this is if WMI is jacked or if the computer was outside the boundaries of the site. The locationservices and clientlocation.log can help determine that.

Why have you installed a CAS and a single primary site?

Have you created a boundary group for *site assignment* and added boundaries at all?

  • Hi,

The company was set to expand so we deployed the CAS thinking there will be more Primary site added to it later. Ya i have created the boundary & have checked the option for site assignment on the reference tab.

    Thanks,

    Pranay.

  • We are having 7 boundaries & 1 boundary group. All the boundaries were added to this boundary group.

  • It really seems like you went through a lot to get your clients to discover the site. Did you check the ClientLocation.log? I don't see that you mention you did or not. Could you post the log for one of the clients that were failing?

    That's not needed.

  • can you please manually try to install a new client in your boundary and check its discovering or not. and what error you are getting in ccm.log.
