Close Task to Update option (PWA 2010) and GeneralSecurityAccessDenied RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

A PM has reported that can't do "Close Task to Update".

The error's Correlation ID shows the folowing:

"System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: ProjectServerError(s) LastError=GeneralSecurityAccessDenied Instructions: Pass this into PSClientError constructore to access all error information     at Microsoft.Office.Project.Server.WebServiceProxy.Project.ReadProject(Guid projectUid, DataStoreEnum dataStore)     at Microsoft.Office.Project.PWA.ApplicationPages.LockTaskPage.LoadTaskData() "

    and

"Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: You do not have sufficient permissions to view the specified page. Please contact your administrator for permissions to view this page."

We already double-checked the PWA settings for the User and Groups and the "Close task to update" setting is checked. User settings were compared to other users (working OK for all, except this one).

    need some help!

    Thank you.

  • Answering my own question:

It's a UI glitch, after all...

At "Project Center" (PWA) one must select a single row containing a Project which is Owner, otherwise the access to "http://your_pwa_server/pwa/_layouts/PWA/Statusing/LockTask.aspx" fails with GeneralSecurityAccessDenied.

Default behaviour: if the PM don't select any Project in the list and just clicks on "Close task to Update", the link to the new page gets the ID of the first project on the list -- if by chance the PM is not the owner of that Project, access fails.

Would'nt be more useful if the system shows up a message like "You must choose a Project you own", when the user had not previously select any row?

I wonder if this will be addressed with next updates/hotfix...
