SSIS package id changes when package is upgraded from 2005 to 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all ,

I have a created a ssis package in VS 2005. THen i upgraded to SSIS 2008.

The package id of the ssis package is changed when upgraded to ssis 2008.

Does the ID will change when it is upgraded or did i do something wrong while upgrading the package?

  • if you really need the same guid then you could set it manually (right click the package in the solution explorer and select view code). And probably an addon like bidshelper would let you change the guid via a gui/interface http://bidshelper.codeplex.com/

And good news for the next update to 2012:
    upgrade to SSIS 2012

  • It doesn't surprise me that the package GUID changes - it's a different package than you had before, since it went through the upgrade process.
