file attachments from Excel to Project 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to import an Excel file which contains path to file attachments and have Project 2010 "see" them as file attachments for tasks?  Please advise.  Thanks.

  • Bernie,

The short answer to you question is no.  Tasks are tasks and hyperlinks are something else.

However, if you have the pathname of the files in a column (cell) in Excel, you can map that to the hyperlink address field in Project.  It will show up in that field, which will cause the hyperlink icon to appear in the indicators field, but it may not necessarily work as a hyperlink.  This means that if the link is set to a file located behind a fire wall, or a secured network, it may not function correctly.

Please give a bit more information on what you are trying to accomplish and maybe we can help.
