Updates Installing but servers not restarting afterwards RRS feed

  • Question

  • Morning, so updating some newly built 2012R2 and consistently getting the "not aplicable" error msg when attempting to install:

    KB2771431 and KB2883201

Attempting to install these to resolve an ongoing issue where most of our 2008R2 and 2012R2 servers are auto-installing MS updates (as we want) but not restarting afterwards as configured in Group Policy (we have GP set to restart 10 minutes after updating, which is not currently happening)!

    Assistance greatly appreciated!

    Tony

    Makes perfect sense to me.

KB2883201 is an Update Rollup for Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012. It does not apply to Windows Server 2008 R2 or to Windows Server 2012 R2.

KB2771431 is a servicing stack update for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. it does not apply to Windows Server 2008 R2 or to Windows Server 2012 R2

to resolve an ongoing issue where most of our 2008R2 and 2012R2 servers are auto-installing MS updates (as we want) but not restarting afterwards as configured in Group Policy (we have GP set to restart 10 minutes after updating, which is not currently happening)!

So, let's troubleshoot this issue then, rather than trying to install non-applicable updates.

Show me a log segment from one of these systems where the machine installed updates at the scheduled time and then did not restart.
