An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package - Appv-5.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting this error message when adding an app-v 5 package on the Microsoft Application Virtualization console:

An unexpected error occurred while retrieving the package at \\appvserver\appv5\7zip\7zip_v1.appv. Please ensure that it exists and that the package’s file permissions allow the management service to access it.

The environment has the latest versions of App-v Management server (5.1.85.0), SQL 2016 and the App-v Sequencer. The machines are Windows Server Standard 2016 x64 and Windows 10 x64 (latest versions). The Windows 10 x64 has all the updates till today.

Distribution share is SMB. Everyone has full control on the share. The machine account has access to the share.

    What could be the cause?

    Thanks!

    Denis

  • Hello Vigneshwaran,

Thank you for this link. I installed the KB. But after that I have no more access to the app-v console with none of the admin accounts which had access before. This error appears:

You do not have access to this information.  Please check your credentials

Maybe the access rights in SQL have to be repaired.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

It works now! Reason of the error: "You do not have access to this information.  Please check your credentials" was that the Appv management SQL service had stopped.

After installing KB3168628 a reboot is necessary.

    Thanks!
