Proper way to remove an update from a deployment group. RRS feed

  • Question

  • What is the proper way to remove an update from a deployment group and deployment?  I have an update that I added to a group of updates and deployed this update group to a test group.  I now want to remove one of the updates so that it does not deploy to the test group or other new deployments.  Do I also need to worry about removing it from the deployment package?

  • From your software update group, select "show members"

Select the updates you want to exclude from the deployment, then "Edit Membership"

Unselect all the deployment groups you want to remove the updates from.

Note - this will not uninstall the update if it's already installed. You'll need to script uninstallation if required.

No need to remove the update from the Deployment Package. You can if you want, but ensure the updates you're removing aren't a part of any other softare update deployments, otherwise the deployment will fail.
