Devices and printers folder empty after upgrade from vista RRS feed

  • Hi everybody
    I have several Window 7 Enterprise installations. One has a strange problem with the devices and printers folder. It is an installation which has been upgraded from Vista. Other upgrades are working without problems. This one has simply the devices and printers folder empty. The network printers can be connected and used, e.g. with Word, but this folder has nothing into. I tried another network user and a new local admin user. Both had the same problem. Does somebody have a fix for that without reinstalling the system?

  • Hi,

    Try to reinstall the driver and see how it works. Generally, if the device installs related device metadata while installing the driver, it can be recognized in Devices and Printers. The metadata files are saved in the folders Device Metadata Cache and Device Metadata Store. You can check these locations after installing the drivers.
