PING fqdn only working after disable DNS Client (cache) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

we have windows xp clients with the following problem:

When windows xp is started we could not ping fqdn from trusted domain (servername.domainname.local).
The DNS Zone from the trusted domain is a secondary zone on the primary DNS server for the xp client.
When i tr to ping fqdn -> host not found.
When i try to nslookup fadn -> everything ok
When i try to ping external fqdn, e.g. www.google.de -> no problem

There are also other trusted domains, there is no problem. the other domains are ending with domainname.de.

Whe i stop the "dns client" service on the xp workstation,  i can ping the fqdn.

Several client have the same problem.

Primary DNS server for the affected clients is windows 2003 server.
The DNS server in the domain.local domain is windows 2008r2.
Is there a problem with the replicated dns data from windows2008r2->windows 2003?

    Anybody knows this problem?

    Thank you

    Regards

    Marc
