WIndows 10 x64 1903 Cumalitive Updates Failing Error 0x800f0983 RRS feed

    Hi,

    Ive had this issue with June & Julys Cumulitive Update for Windows 10 1809 x64-Base Systems.  They keep on failing to install.  I was scratching my head with the June release but evejtually declined that as July's release came out and hoping it would work but failed.

    Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Ive tried to delete the SoftwareDist folder, verified the files in WSUSContent, chkdsk and also dism.exe /scanhealth all with no luck.

    I believe to have found the issue.

    My MDT image has OneDrive removed via a popular PS script circulating around on the net.

    Looking at the CBS logs it appears these cumulative updates require OneDrive to do the update...

    Hi Brad,
      

    0x800f0983 does not seem to be a common update failure, and I have not found a better solution for this. As a test, have you tried downloading the updated stand-alone installation package and can it be done normally by manual update? Or is it successful to manually install updates via the Dism command set?

    Hi Brad,
      

    I am not sure if this will help you, if any third party software causing confliction to download & install windows updates, clean booting your computer may also help.
      

    1. Go to the search box > type msconfig
    2. Select System Configuration > go to Services tab
    3. Select Hide all Microsoft services > Disable all
    4. Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all the unnecessary services running there.
        

    Restart your computer and check for updates, hope this time windows updates download and install without any error.

    Fond the one drive dependencies and copied them in C:\Windows\WinSxS works like a charm.

    On an healthy workstation, fresh install without wiping out OneDrive, inside the C:\Windows\WinSxS folder, i took every folder with the word one drive in it. Folders like :

    Then copied it back in workstation with issues in the same C:\Windows\WinSxS.
