Problem with loading Task Center page (My Assignment View) RRS feed

  • Question

  • in Project Online environment we use Task Center to get updates from team members regarding %complete, Actual Date, few custom fields, etc.

It was working fine until we've created a project with few hundreds tasks all allocated to one resource. after that not only it take too long to load the view for the user; sometimes it stays in freezing mode and never loads.

Any idea why this happens? is there any limitation for number of allocation to a resource? even if there is limit on number of tasks/assignment per resource why should other resources experience issue with loading the page.

We were thinking a workaround like applying filter on the view; but unfortunately filtering is not possible on My Work views!

    Your help much appreciated.

  • Hello Naaser,

there's no threshold communicated. Link about performance optimization:

One option to limit the tasks is with the task column "publish". Per default it is set to "yes", but if you switch it to "no" for the unrelevant tasks of the period, you can limit the outcome for the project team member. This is a general recommendation, otherwise you will probably face a lot of wrong time bookings.

  • Thank you Julian for advice.

We found out the problem was not about the limitation on number of tasks or assignments.

Basically we used delegation mode to see how the task Center is going to look like from user perspective. but one of the users that we tried didn't had license at the time; so apparently that was the root cause of the issue.

As soon as you create a delegate for a user who doesn't have license and you try to act as him, not only the task center of delegated user stops working but also other users' task center freeze!

Seems interesting... but this issue/bug gave us such a hard time for a couple of days until we figured it out.

Hope this explanations helps other users.
