Windows 8 Homegroup Issue - only works one-way. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have two computers running Windows 8 Pro on my home network.  Both systems are in the same workgroup.  I have been able to successfully create the HomeGroup on one system (System 1) and join the HomeGroup from the other system (System 2).  From System 2 I can access the shared folders on System 1.  From System 1 I cannot access the shared folders on System 2.  I can see the System 2 libraries, but nothing happens when I click on them.

On a side note - I can RDP from System 2 into the System 1 computer.  But when I try to RDP into System 2 from System 1, I get the error "Your computer could not connect to another console session on the remote computer because you already have a console session in progress."  After rebooting the systems, I get the same message.

    Any suggestions?

  • 1. I would open all ports and check if the accessibility changes.

    2. What security level of RDS is set?

    3. Network monitor is last resort how to analyze connection problems (Wireshark will do the job).
