Remove duplicate user account - Join and managed through MIM RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Question with MIM 2016 R2. My system is configured as HR -- > MIM -- > AD.

I have a user account1 created from HR and provisioned into AD through MIM.

Same User also has account2 in AD in another OU (not managed through MIM).

Now here is my question. I want disable account account1 and only have account2 in AD that should be joined and managed through MIM.

What is the best way to do this without affecting end user profile, mailbox and other details.

    Thanks.

  • I assume that the user is user account2 and not account1.

You should halt automated processes, and backup the MIM sync database.

Then turn off provisioning.  Then disconnect Account1 from the MV object. Then run a Preview Sync on Account2. If it joins then commit the preview. If not then use the joiner tool to manually join it.

    Turn provisioning back on

Turn back on your automated processes

Then manually disable account 1 in ADUC
