  • Question

  • Is it possible to recover the whole VMware vmdk file with Data Protection Manager? The recover option is greyed out when selecting the vmdk file.

  • Hi,

Its possible. But on what update rollup are you and what version of DPM are you running.

There are some problems with some earlier versions of Microsoft DPM. See also: http://www.buchatech.com/2016/08/vmware-vm-backup-in-scdpm-setup/

  • Hey!

If you have an issue with VMDK file, then it is possible that file got corrupted with numerous other files when your pc got infected by a virus. In such conditions, you need to use VMDK Recovery Software, you can use this software to recover the whole VMware vmdk file. This tool also supports corrupt VMDK file of any type, i.e. Fixed and dynamic, containing any partition table.
