Outlook 2007 .ost migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to move/mirgate a .ost from one computer to another.

I have checked the following link for Office 2003 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/872930) which is similiar what I want to do.

    What I have done is,
    1) Log into new computer to create the new Domain profile
    2) copy the .ost and .oab. NK2  to the new computer from the old computer
    3) open up Outlook.

On opening Outlook a new .ost is replicated.  as outlook0.ost

I am trying minimise the traffic on the WAN, without changing the setup, due to the size of the .ost.

Is this possible? Has anyone done this?

  • Hi,

Step by step details are here:

Step-1: Locate OST in your system

Open Control Panel and click on Mail

Select Email Accounts in the “Mail Setup” dialogue box

Now, go to the Data Files tab and select the desired account. Click on Open File Location to know the location of the OST file.

The location of your PST file will be opened.

    Step-2: Convert OST to PST

Step-3: Copy newly created PST to an external Hard Disk

Step-4: Create a new Outlook profile on the new system

    Step-5: Import PST to Outlook
