Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 Installation Freezes on "Expanding files" stage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Two days ago I bought a brand new machine:

    Intel Q9450
    Asus P5Q3 Deluxe
    2 HDDs (Seagate 500mb) SATA2
    Pioneer DVD drive SATA2
    4 GB of RAM (OCZ)
and .... Windows Vista Utlimate Edition SP1 integrated.

In the following two days I am constantly failing to install Windows Vista. It is a nightmare.

    Installation freezes in different stages:

    1. "Please Wait" when booting from the DVD.
    2. Expanding files - On different percent levels.

I am installing on RAID 0, tried to fallback to IDE mode, tried to disabled everything on the MB .. Nothing helps.

I have two memory DIMMS - I tried to leave only one of them and did a complete memory test - the test completed just fine.

WHAT AM I doing wrong ?!?!?! All I want to do is to install Windows Vista and enjoy the show ....

    Please help.

  • Hi,

Did you try to install Windows Vista with just memory less than 4GB? If not, so try installing it with just 2 GB of RAM.

Also, Try to install Windows Vista on another machine using same DVD, it might be damaged

"NOTE: DON'T ACTIVATE WINDOWS ON THE OTHER MACHINE YOU'RE GOING TO TEST THE SETUP ON".

    Good luck
