Using EMET protection profiles via GUI RRS feed

  • Question

  • "Users are encouraged to enable them as-is, to modify them, or to create new protection profiles based on them."

I cannot see any way of enabling EMET protection profiles other than via GROUP POLICY. Is that it, or is there some other way of enabling the IE or Office protection profiles within the GUI? (I ask because I understand absolutely nothing about group policy and I don't have time to learn)

  • From the GUI, click on the Configure Apps button in the lower right.  Next, select File, Import and then locate the profile you wish to import.

  • PeterFacey,

Here is another way of configuring EMET on your Windows machine. Go to your command prompt and navigate to the installation directory of EMET. On a Vista machine, it should be

    C:\Program Files\EMET>

then type this -> EMET_Conf.exe --import "deployment\protection profiles\all.xml" and hit Enter.

That's the simplest way to get your machine protected since you don't have time to to do the Group Policy configuration.

Also when you have time, check out this article and it will help you to understand how to install and configure EMET v3.0.

Here is the link for the article -> http://www.rationallyparanoid.com/articles/microsoft-emet-3.html

I used it and I am very happy with the outcome of how EMET is protecting the machines on my network.
