Windows Update Error Code 80240038

Question
-
I'm having issues trying to install updates on a couple Windows 2008 R2 servers. I keep getting either Error Code 8024402F or Error Code 80240038. I've been trying a bunch of things and can't seem to figure out the issue and I'm getting frustrated. Any suggestions? I've tried this with no luck http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproSP/thread/9e423ee2-f2fe-419a-b8bf-703da6187d5d and also the automatic troubleshooter located here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-80072efd

I found that there was a proxy server in place that was causing the issue. I had the proxy admin add the servers into the exception list of the proxy server so I could bypass it and then updates installed without any issues.

If there is any proxy, bypass the proxy and set the servers to connect to Internet directly. Turn off any antivirus and firewall products on the server. If still no joy, try the below steps:
1. turn off Windows Update service.
2. empty the folder C:\Windows\softwaredistribution
3. turn Windows Update Service back on and test again.
Run System Update Readiness tool and post the CheckSUR log if any errors are found.Friday, February 1, 2013 7:08 AM -
I did all that and I'm still getting the error. Here is what the CheckSUR log shows.

By further research, some have fixed this error by reset Internet Explorer.
To reset IE go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Reset...>Reset.
