SCOM Custom Widget for displaying simple text in bold RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to create a custom widget for my project where I need to show some simple text in bold.

    So far, I have managed to build the control by following this article social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12324.creating-a-widget-for-operations-manager-dashboard-walkthrough-1-custom-ui-control.aspx.

    I am able to show some static text in my control when I add to a dashboard in SCOM. I am adding the links to the pictures below.

    I am unable to grasp how I can just pass some text to my widget by doing something like this:

    <Component TypeId="Visualization!Microsoft.SystemCenter.Visualization.ComponentContainer">
        <Binding PropertyId="Visual">
            <Component TypeId="LabelControl">
                <Binding PropertyId="Text">
                    <SimpleValue Type="xsd://string" Value="1 : 1"/>

    I am using VS 2013 and SCOM 2012 R2
