How to find as to who all modified a Project Schedule (stored in Project Server 2007)? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, This is related to Project Server 2007.

Is there an easy way to find out as to the ho all modified a particular project schedule (in say last 3 months) by using either UI of Project Server 2007 or via a SQL query to Project Server DBs?

Any help with SQL query sample would just be great?.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Srini,

As far as I know, Project Server doesn't keep the audit data for project modification. You can get the last modified date & modify by in Reporting database using MSP_EPMPorject_userView. You can have your own custom solution(event handler or WCF service) which populates the data on each time project is saved/prublished.

    Hope that helps.

  • That’s bit disappointing to know that project server 2007 doesn’t even keep the audit history of all the schedules where its main purpose is to store all project plans/schedules at a central place.

Actually, I had this specific query (by the project manager who owns the schedule) needs to find out as to who else has changed the schedule few weeks ago. As there are multiple admins on the Project server (or say for this project schedule) I was hoping querying the DB would tell me the answer.

    Anyway, Thanks.

  • There is one solution OOB i recommend is retaining the Queue logs, navigate to Manage queue settings >>change the cleanup age limit
which essentially will retain a level of history who saved / published the plan when, though this might not be considered as true audit log, but for that as an alternative solution you can have a simple macro in  project professional which can keep logging activities as required in a custom table for auditing purposes

Let us know if this helps
