  • Hi,

You can give read permission by go to Site Actions -->Site Settings-->Advanced Permissions-->New-->Add users-->Give user name here and select Read check box --> finally click on Ok.

But if that user logged into Central Administration he/she can not access /_admin/*.* files(can not access Operations or Application Management Tabs). Even if user is having Full Control also can not access _admin pages.

Central Administration is only for Administrators not for normal users.

  • Hi Neerubee,

    Many thanks for your reply..

This is also my understanding of SharePoint Central Administration site, but as the SharePoint site is given for maintenance to other company so they are asking for read permission to site, so that they can monitor the central admin site.

  • Sandeep, what exactly needs to be inspected/audited?  Read only will implement security trimming, so that any options the account can't action, it won't see, so you'll really not serve much of a point.

Have you considered making use of the logs if you want to see what's going on?

  • Hi Steven,

    Thanks for your reply.

Pls advise what kind of permissions i can give in Central Administration foe health monitoring of Sharepoint sites.

As i havn't came across with such requirment in sharepoint, normally administrator will do all the admin tasks.

    Pls Advise..
