Windows XP Professional not recognizing Outlook 2010 in default programs RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I hope this is the correct place to inquire about this.

I am running Window XP Professional with Service Pack 3.0.  My administrator recently installed Microsoft Office 2010.  My issue is my computer is not recognizing Outlook 2010 (32bit).  When I go into Start , Set Program Access and defaults,   It doesn't have Outlook 2010 as an option to select for "Email Program".  The only two optins are "Use my current Microsoft e-mail program" and "Outlook Express" which is also on my computer.

This came to my attention when I tried syncing my phone to my Outlook after the new install.  The sync program only sees the Outlook Express also,

Can anyone direct me to a solution to this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

  • I assume you can open Outlook 2010 from the Start Menu.

If so, click on the File tab, Options, General, Startup Options, and make sure 'Make Outlook the default program for email etc...' is checked.
