Hyper-V Windows Server 2012 Error:Virtual port creation failed with a NPIV error

    Question

  • I have Windows Server 2012 and VM on Hyper-V. After I restart my VM, I receive error like on pictures below.

I found solution to make a reboot server and solution for remove inactive FC virtual port.

But this is workaround, I want to know what is reason for this? Maybe wrong configured FC or need for new driver or something else?

  • Hi Sir,

I found the similar issue within following thread:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/baca348d-fb57-4d8f-978b-f1e7282f89a1/synthetic-fibrechannel-port-failed-to-start-reserving-resources-with-error-insufficient-system?forum=winserverhyperv

Please check the second reply of Forch :

If it is the case , I'd suggest you try to update the firmware/driver for HBA .

Also , you may involve hardware vendor to check this behavior .

    Best Regards,

    Elton
