Insurmountable problem installing version 1803 if you have Symantec Endpoint Protection RRS feed

  • I have an office with Windows 10 Professional machines and Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.0.1.  I tried my first upgrade to version 1803 of Windows 10 on one machine and ran into this message:

    (Except that there were THREE instances of "Symantec Endpoint Protection".)

    So I went ahead and clicked "uninstall and continue", did the uninstall, and restarted the system.  Now it tells me that there are still two instances of Symantec Endpoint Protection in the system, even though it's completely gone from apps in the Control Panel.

    So I'm at a complete dead end.   Is there any way to make the install program BELIEVE that Symantec Endpoint Protection is no longer in the system?

  • When uninstalling malware software products, files or fragments can be left in the registry.
