using MDT for Win 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • This is my scenario:

I have 2 machines that have win7 embedded on them with an application. The machines vary slightly in their hardware.

We have a *.win file created from each with all the settings and applications.

When we have a new version of the app or new settings, we deploy the wim manually using a bootable usb, launching winPE and using ImageX on both machines, then we either install the new version of the app or change settings and then make a new wim from both.

This wim file is stored on a USB that is then sent with our technicians to the field to update the machines at our clients.

We would like to automate the entire manual process.

I was looking into WDS, unfortunatly the machines network drive doesn't support PXE and there's no updated driver for them.

Ive read somewhere that the Win10 MDT can still be used to deploy win 7 wim images but I'm not sure if that is true.

Is MDT the tool I need ? is it something else (ADK ?)
