32-bit for installing 64-bit system and vice versa RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi. Get confused with those images by next situation: if I'm booting with x32 windows PE, master wont go further 1st step. I'm guess its due windows PE network drivers which machine dont get during installation. But if i'm booting with x64 windows PE all is fine. And sometimes i'm getting same situation with installing x64 systems via x32 windows PE. Why it's so? Deployment share supports both platforms. We dont deploying in this way systems right now (dont installing x64 on machines with less, than 4 GB RAM), so it's just curious question. But for cases when it's will, I need at least a cue of why it's so would be.

  • What are you deploying and what platform BIOS or UEFI? If you are deploying Windows 10 via UEFI you can ONLY boot x64 version of Windows PE...

  • Probably the platform is actual issue, but what could a reason in case, when x64 windows PE wizard won't even start if CPU supports x64 arch (but PC have not meet requirements for x64 system, like <4GB RAM)?

  • Are you deploying using a USB, PXE, etc?

Do you get loading files screen? Please provide screenshots if possible...

  • Always PXE. First case was just 'freezed' screen without first wizard page. Second case was related due missed network drivers for windows PE x64.
