SCCM 2007 and 2012 Agent RRS feed

  • Question

  • customer said that SCCM 2007 (or SMS) agent consume a lot of resource in the client computer, and users feel their PC became very slow after installed SMS Agent.

I am wondering that is any any performance improvement for SCCM 2012 agent running on client computers?

Answers

  • If users are seeing performance problems from the SCCM client something else is going on.

    1. AV is giving it problems

    2. The computers are ancient and underpowered

    3. They may be missing some hotfixes

    4. One of the client agents is not configured properly.

I have never had any compliants from SCCM agent on computers and we buy the cheapest computers we can get.

  • You won't see any negative side effects if the ConfigMgr client is installed. Exception: high disk activity during software inventory.
Plus "lot of resource in the client computer" is way too general.

Customer probably observed the behaviour during intensive processing, the agent sits there dormant pretty much most of the time. It does have things to do, the most noticable is as Torsten pointed out. Maybe his issue is based on a patched issue that caused high cpu usage. Fixed.
