Windows File Explorer running a bit strangely RRS feed

  • Question

  • I was trying to do a date range file search the other day using window explorer. Windows explorer crashed whilst perfoming this search. Since then every time I start it up it shows the green progress bar in the address bar and just sits there spinning its wheels; doesn't show the root folder items, just Onedrive and My Pc and that it. Also, I don't see any file "icons" for images they are just blank and I'm unable to change the view type as all the toolbar items are greyed out!!

I've tried rebuilding the icon thumbnail cache but that made no difference - I've had a search around but can't find anything.

I'm not sure if it's related by I'm using onedrive and the web portal runs fine, but when I click the onedrive item in explorer it does the same thing, just sits there spinning it wheels...

I'm using an HP Envy laptop running Windows 8.1 pro - nothing else bolted to it
