Email Forwarding to external email address.

Question
-
Hello,
I setup email forwarding for a couple of users using Set-Mailbox -Identity user -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $True -ForwardingSMTPAddress anotheruser@externaldomain.com
When I run get-mailbox for those users, I see that email forwarding is setup.
External users do not receive emails. Can someone help me with this problem?
Thank you. Eric.

Not sure where to check. I opened Exchange Toolbox and checked Queue Viewer. I saw the message addressed to that external SMTP address, but it was gone quickly. I guess it left our network.
Is there another place to check in Exchange 2013?
Thank you. Eric.
Do not waste a time, it's by design. But, if it is impossible to create a Mail Contact, then read this article - Allow Automatic Forwarding/Replying to the Internet
But I do not recommend you to allow Auto Forwarding.

Hi Eric,
Trying to understand more about the issue.
Have you also created corresponding 'Mail Contacts' for the external email address?

Have you looked at email tracking to see if the messages are leaving your server?Thursday, November 21, 2013 5:32 PM

Thank you. I enabled Auto Forwarding and it works. I did not have to create Contact for this external email.
Why would not you recommend to allow auto forwarding?
Thank you.
Thank you. Eric.
