How long for DPM to perform a backup process? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello can anyone advise how long a DPM backup process takes.

The actual MBS and dedup process duration is really what i like to know.

    Any examples or references please?

    Thanks.

  • Hi!

Similar to the post you posed here, I'm afraid there's no real answer for this as the backup process varies so much. The best way to know is to try out and calculate an average of it.

The data deduplication is not done by DPM, also remember the following, to use data deduplication with MBS the volumes have to be NTFS.

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • DPM itself doesn’t perform the dedup, it will make use of the feature yes! As it states in the blog ”How to configure datadeduplication FOR DPM” Best regards, Leon
