MDT 2010 - Computer Description & TaskSequenceID RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    Is there any way to automatically populate the "Computer Description" field depending on the task sequence selected?

    I modified my CustomSettings.ini and add a new section:

    Priority=ComputerDescription, TaskSequenceID, Default

    Properties=MyCustomProperty, ComputerDescription

    [Default]

    ...

    [TaskSequenceID]

    ...

    [ComputerDescription]
    ComputerDescription=%TaskSequenceID%

    But it seems not working as the field remain with %TaskSequenceID% as value.

  • Could just put a Run Command Line step in your Task Sequence:

    reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters /v srvcomment /t REG_SZ /d %TaskSequenceID%

  • Ok I found a way to get around this.

    I created a new "application", I've just added the command line you mentionned:

    reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters /v srvcomment /t REG_SZ /d %TaskSequenceID%

    Then I mentionned that all task sequence must use this application (MandatoryApplication) in the CustomSettings.ini.

    Thanks for your help,

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for your answer.

    The problem with that kind of solution is that I need to edit all my task sequences to add this step. We have 3 sites with 3 MDT and few ICT technicians, it will be complicate to manage one by one.

    Another idea?
