Azure Print Server RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

the business has asked me to look into a concept to have a failover printing solution in the MS Azure platform. The scenario is to have the main printing remain on premise and have a failover in the cloud should this go down, the hope and intend is to have that transparent to the end users.

The preferred method of printing would be via SMB.

Have created an azure tenet that has a print server joined to my on premise domain, this has a number of printers that been shared off as I would normally do. From my pc I am able to view the printer but I am able to connect to the cloud printer

Has anyone had this requirement or got this working.

    Many thanks

  • Hi Wayne,

maybe a bit late but I might have just the ticket for you.

Printix is a cloud based print solution, currently unique to the market. You can find the Printix service on the Azure market place. https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/partners/printix-net-aps/printix/

The idea behind Printix is to orchestrate local printing and manage it centrally in the cloud.

By using the Azure AD integration you benefit of single sign-on.

    Happy to assist if required.

    Regards

    Damien
