Making multiple disk copies of protected data RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a DPM 2012 server that backs up our data to both disk and tape.

It has been discussed that we'd like to have a second disk copy in another part of the building for DR purposes, in case something happens to the primary server room.  (We would have tape DR, of course, but this would be much quicker.)

Can DPM do something like that?  As in, manage two separate storage pools and keep multiple copies of data in two different pools, or something like that?

I have never seen an option like that, but was curious.

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Yes, You can use DPM secondary protection to make another copy of disk based protection.

Please review the following TechNet article: Back up DPM using a secondary server

You could also use DPM Online protection to Azure for off-premise protection.
