Setting up the two public ips questions for Direct Access RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Hopefully someone can give us some answers on these questions.

2012 server.  Trying to setup Direct Access with Advanced Configuraiton.   Have questions regarding setting up the two public ips.

    • We have setup two public ips.  Say .130 and .131   Which one does our da.domain.com external dns point to?  Both?
    • If the dns only points to the first.  What points to the other?
    • We have our DA/edge server in our DMZ.   Does the server require two ips as well?   would .130 point to one dmz ip and .131 to another dmz ip?

    Thank you any help!

  • Hi

Since Windows Server 2012, the two IPv4 public addresses is no longer mandatory but optionnal. It's your choice to enable teredo or not, having your DirectAccess server directly connected to Internet or Not. If you Choose to enable Teredo, you need two public IPv4 addresses that are consecutives. Your DNS record should point to the first address.

If you do not choose to have you DA Server on the edge, you wont have Teredo support (only IPHTTPS will be available) so your DNS record must point to the IPv4 publi address that point to your edge device that publish IPHTTPS traffic.
