My PC in File Explorer has a long delay RRS feed

  • Question

  • I re-installed windows 10 on my system so this is a fresh install with all updates, drivers, chipset etc. Whenever I try to access my local directories, all of the hard drives under "My PC" take ~ 30 seconds to display, including the C drive. This happens with File Explorer and I just tried installing Directory Opus to see if that would help but I get the same problem. I do not see anything in my Event Log that would be creating this delay. Also, if I save to a hard drive out of a typical desktop application (like Word), the various hard drives all display immediately, there is no delay.

    Any information would be helpful.

  • Try a Clean Boot and test the issue.

Do you experience the same if you create another user account with same privileges?

  • Hi Rob,

Try to execute Error checking and defrag at first.

Then, create another admin account to check result.

PS: close all third-party Anti-virus software and security software.
