winpe x86 wont boot with 10.0.15063.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

After the release of Windows 10 1703 I updated my MDT server with ADK 1703 and deleted my vanilla Operating Systems (Enterprise 1607) and replaced them with 1703 both x86 and x64.

I recreated my litetouch boot images for both x86 and x64 and imported into WDS.

Now on some hardware when I boot the x86 image I get the windows logo and endless spinning dots, but never get to the deployment screen. If I try x64 on the same device, it boots successfully. However I want to deploy an x86 image so I cannot boot x64.

If I delete the ADK and force MDT to build an x86 boot image from 1607 then the x86 litetouch image works again.

Is there a driver incompatibility with 1607 vs 1703?

Also how does MDT determine which image to use to create litetouch? I have seen it use ADK (winpe.wim) Imported OS (boot.wim) and even Boot\LiteTouchPE_xxx.wim if neither exist (does it just use the latest?)
